The bitter-chill of the winter months has finally passed us – HOORAY!
Now that the days are getting warmer and longer, it’s the perfect time to get all of those jobs sorted around your home, and get it in top shape for the impending summer months of entertaining, and relaxing.
We’ve compiled a short list of ideas to kick-start your springtime home makeover!
You may have had blinds shut, curtains drawn and doors firmly closed all autumn and winter, but now is the time to let all of the warmth, colour and vibrancy of the coming months into your home!
Spring and summer are all about vibrant colours, bright and fresh patterns, natural light, and raw, natural materials. Think pastel pieces, bright bed coverings, pillows and art work to brighten bedrooms and living spaces, as well as a mixture of patterns to bring a fun atmosphere to your summer home.
Light coloured towels and timber pieces bring a summer feel to your bathroom, while fresh flowers (or even fake plants!) in the kitchen will breathe life back into your family and entertaining areas.
Outside, get your garden summertime-ready by planting veggies and flowers, fertilizing lawns and flowerbeds, and renewing mulch.
No one has motivation to clean at the best of times, but when it’s freezing cold, there is none of that motivation to be found. Anywhere!
That makes spring the perfect season to give your home a good once-over, before the season of entertaining arrives.
In the kitchen, take time to clean out the fridge, pantry and freezer, getting rid of anything out of date, degrease cooking appliances, clean windows, wipe down all surfaces, and mop the floors.
Wipe down bathroom walls, mirrors and shower screens, rinse out the bath and soak towels and washers, and in the laundry, use the combination of vinegar and baking soda to have your washing machine cleaning like new again.
Ladies, spring is also a perfect time to declutter cosmetics and makeup that have been building up in the cupboard.
In the bedroom, dust all surfaces, steam clean carpets, wash rugs and Manchester, and clean windows, and in the kid’s rooms, take the opportunity to giveaway any toys and clothes no longer needed.
Has it been a long winter of “I can’t be bothered to cook”, or “let’s just get takeout”? Then spring is time to get back into your kitchen.
Spring is all about fresh flavours and produce, and bright-coloured veggie-driven meals.
So if you’re stuck for what to cook tonight, or for that barbeque or dinner party you’ve got coming up, take some inspiration from the images below!
